The results of the analysis presented in this paper casts doubt on the validity of the widely accepted hypothesis of a structurally uniform Indian continental lithosphere underthrusting beneath the Himalayas. It raises the possibility that differential crustal movements within the northern Indian continent may be an important consideration in the reconstruction of the Indian-Eurasia continental col-lisional history.

Based on corrections for the temperature anomaly due to the cooling effect of a glacier, this regression equations which are associated with main climatic indices of the feature fields on mountain glaciers in West China were determind, using the observed data from 17 glaciers in various glacioclimatological regions. These calculational results show that the relationship of the total annual ablation or accumulation (aso, mm) to the mean annual air temperature (Ta, ℃), the mean summer air temperature (from June to August, Tso,℃) and the annual soild precipitation (PEL, mm) are:

冰川与气候关系的研究在于揭示一定冰川气候区的冰川系统内物质、能量交换与气候因子间具有数学模式的相互作用和过程。中国西部山地冰川特征场内,决定冰川发育特性的主要气候指标:冰川热量平衡组成结构及类型;平衡线高度处的年总消融量(a_(so),mm),年及夏季平均气温(T_a,T_(so),℃)和年固体降水量(P_(EL),mm)。它们之间的相关关系:a_(so)=1.5693(T_(so)+7.0)~(3.02)(对于大陆型冰川);a_(so)=979.2+479.8T_(so)(对于海洋型冰川);T_a=-40.6656+4.7372 lnP_(EL)和T_(so)=-13.3625+2.1270 lnP_(EL)。利用这些经验方程,对三个冰川气候区153个冰川区计算结果列于表中。
