The chlorophyll content gradually decreased of detached rice leaves during senescence, in which chl.a degradated more rapidly than chl. b. The ratio of chl.a/chl.b can be used as phyliologcal indicator of leaf senescence. Proline is one of the components of plant protein and chlorophyll. During senescence the level of proline increased significantly. This is interpreted to indicate that BA and KT retarded senescence but promoted ethylene production, whereas AbA promoted senescence but decreased ethylene production. For these seemingly condradictory observations, further expeliments are reouired.

It was observed that the contents of nucleic acids and proteins decreased during the senescence of both detached and intact leaves in rice (Oryza sativa L.).These decreases were significantly retarded if leaves were treated with 6-BA, a synthetic cytokinin. Therefore, just as that of protein, the decrease of nucleic acid contents was one of the basic characteristics of leaf senescence in rice. The specific activities of ribonulease increased during the course of senescence in both detached and intact rice leaves....

It was observed that the contents of nucleic acids and proteins decreased during the senescence of both detached and intact leaves in rice (Oryza sativa L.).These decreases were significantly retarded if leaves were treated with 6-BA, a synthetic cytokinin. Therefore, just as that of protein, the decrease of nucleic acid contents was one of the basic characteristics of leaf senescence in rice. The specific activities of ribonulease increased during the course of senescence in both detached and intact rice leaves. However, this increase was delayed if rice leaves were treated with 6-BA. Therefore, there was a concomitant relationship between the increase of the specific activities of ribonucleasc and the decrease of ribonucleic acid contents in the course of senescing of the rice leaf.

在水稻连体叶片(汕优3号)和离休叶片(盐粳2号)衰老过程中,应用细胞分裂素类物质c-BA可显著延缓核酸和蛋白质含量的下降,从而使叶片衰老延缓。枚糖核酸酶比活在水稻离体和连体叶片衰老过程中不断增加,应用6-BA可延缓它的增加。稻叶衰老过程中,核糖核酸酶比活增加和核糖核酸含量下降有密切的伴随关系。 水稻叶片衰老过程中核糖核酸、蛋白质含量下降的曲线和核糖核酸酶比活上升的曲线均呈S型。水稻叶片的衰老过程可分为三期:开始时变化缓慢,为缓衰期;以后变化迅速,为速衰期;最后变化又趋缓慢,为竭衰期。 DpU延缓离体叶片衰老的效果显著,但对连体叶片效果不显著。而6-BA延缓离体和连体水稻叶片衰老的效果则均显著。
