    This paper discusses the problem of solving elastic wave field varying with time by the finite element method. Finite element equation is established according to Hamilton principle in mechanics, thus offering one solution. Finally, the method for detecting wave field, i. e., energy method of inverse problem is given. The result obtained with this me- thod is the subsurface structural Shape.

A complete expression of the generalized forces representing respectively mechanical and electrical source distribution is geven. For the free surface especially, the surface electrical sources can be composed of the discontinuity of normal electric displacement at the surface, and of the dis-continuity of the tangential electric field as well.
