This paper presents the feature of a compaction system for active municipalwastes and the radiological monitoring results of workplace and environment.A variety ofdry active municipal wastes could be compacted by this system. Volume reduction factor at-tained to 5 to 7 for soft wastes and 8 to 13 for hard wastes. No evident radiological impactwas found on workplace and environment.
