The progress of basic research of water glass will lead to solve the three problems which hinder the further application of water glass sand. ①The total polymerization process,group constitution and basic component of polysilicic acid in water glass have been studied and quantitatively analyzed. lt was proved that the ideal hardening process for water glass should be "strong dehydration, less reaction" by the role of Na+ ion to structure and strength of silicon gel. ②The collapsibility of water glass sand has been improved by the means of modification, complexing and the improvement of hardening process. The reaction mechanism and principle of modification and complexing agent were studied. Thus the additive of water glass can be reduced to almost 2.0% and the collapsibility problem will be solved. ③The result of water glass hardening by CO2 or ester is partial dehydrated water glass with higher modulas. So the part of residual water glass can be recovered to liquid form by addition of alkali and water. Based on this principal,a new chemical reclamation of used water glass sand was invented.Therefore, the used sand can be reused combined with physical reclamation. The water glass sand technique will be continually developed to meet the needs of foundry industry in 21's century.Through several case studies,it can be expected that some new theories and processes could be discovered. The specific strength, collapsibility and sand reclamation ratio of water glass sand will reach or approach the level of resin sand.

The adsorption and filtration of FFA-2 ion exchangefabricsforhazardousfluoridedust and acidic gases were examined.The experimentalresults showed thatthe dynamic adsorp tion capacity of FFA-2 for HF and SO2 are50 and1 6 0 mg g,the filtration rate for gas- solid fluoride96 .6 and84 .3 % ,and breathe resistance2 .1 mm.H2 O,respectively.Owing to its finerecycling properties,thisnew fabricsareexpected to beusefulin laborprotection and purification ofacidic gases.

考察了 FFA-2离子交换纤维织物作为氟化物尘毒、酸性染毒气流呼吸防护滤料的可行性。实验表明 :FFA-2材料对 HF和 SO2 的动态吸附容量可分别达到 (5 0~ 1 6 0 ) mg g;气固态氟化物的实际滤除率分别为 96 .6 %和 84 .3% ;用这种功能纤维所制成的防护面具 ,其吸气阻力为2 .1 mm H2 O。由于 FFA-2滤料吸附酸性气体达到饱和后 ,可经化学再生而重复使用 ,预期它对新型尘毒呼吸性防护和在潮湿工作环境下的空气净化 ,有广阔的应用前景。
