Passive Magnetic Bearings are simple in structure, cheap in cost and uncontrolled. This paper discussed two alternative magnetic bearings and calculated the levitation force, rigidity, quality factor and dynamic character. Upon the advantage and disadvantages of the two schemes, the first one is fitted for the small flywheel system, and the second one is fitted for the large and medium-sized system.
