The results show that in the near surface region, the Na/Al ratio varies from 0.07 to 1.16 and the O/Al ratio from 1.23 to 4.33. On average, sodium content is 33% more in ceramics than in monocrystals, while the lithium concentration is in agreement with those in the raw material. Somewhat asymmetry is found in the concen- tration distributions of both sodium and lithium...

The absorption of water in beta-tubes can be reversible and gives measurable effect on the sodium content and distrabution. The results also suggest that such a nondestructive, quantitative technique can be used as a quick way to monitor and optimize the composition and fabrication procedures of beta-alu- mina ceramic tubes.

Porcelain stone and porcelain clay are traditional raw materials of ceramics in China. Most of them are derived from acidic nypabyssal igneous rocks or acidic volcanic rocks through hydrothermal alteration and weathering actions. Porcelain stone and porcelain clay are traditional raw materials of ceramics in China. This paper systematically discusses into concepts of porcelain stone and porcelain clay, their appearance, texture, mineralogical composnition, chemical composition, technological properties, as well as its action on ceramic batch composition. The propose of the research is to provide some theoretical evidences for ceramic workers.
