1. Synthesis of △~5-androsten-3 β ,7α-diol-17-one (7α-hydroxy DHEA)The △~5-androsten-3β,7α-diol-l7-one (7α-hydroxy DHEA) was synthesized by two routes:Using DHEA acetate as staring material, 7α-hydroxy DHEA was prepared with total yield of 40% by four steps including bromination, isomerization, esterification and hydrolysis.
Ten FD patients (age 26.1±2.6 (SEM) years) and eight control subjects (age 29.5±3.7 years) were studied.
IL-1 secretion by monocytes of eight control full-term babies was in the same range (8.4 ± 0.6 U/ml).
Concentrations of zinc in postmortem serum and four brain regions were measured by flame atomic absorption spectrometry and instrumental neutron activation analysis, respectively, in nine Alzheimer's disease (AD) and eight control subjects.
An immunohistochemical technique was used for the analysis of IGF-I expression in eight control and four hyperplastic adrenals, 11 adrenal cortical adenomas, and 18 adrenal corticalcarcinomas.
Lung samples were obtained from different lung lobes of nine sepsis and eight control cases with postmortem intervals between 12 and 48 hours.
