The effect of pretreatment, additions and temperature on the coloring process of stainless steel has been studied in this paper. The potential-time curves of colring of stainless steel have been measured. The results show that the coloring speed will increase with the preteatrnent of hot water, addition of manganese sulphate and anodiration, but decrease with electropolishing.
