Simulations of the cornering properties for different vertical model prediction accuracies show that for small loads,the nonlinear sidewall compliance has little effect on the vertical properties and cornering characteristics,but for large loads,the nonlinear sidewall compliance greatly affects the cornering property predictions with the maximum cornering stiffness error decreasing from -18.7% to -11.4% compared to test results.

Under light or moderate loads, with the help of numerical method, plots of oil film thickness and pressure distribution of the tip relieved involute spur gears are obtained. The relaion between the oil film thickness and the the relieved amount and a series of transient characteristics are also obtained. The author measures the oil film thickness experimentally by the 'displacement method'.
