By assuming that the vortex of current is small and that the current velocity is constant along vertical direction, a mild-slope equation for wave propagation on non-uniform flow is deduced from basic hydrodynamics equations and the terms of  2 hh and ( hh) 2 are included in the equation. The terms describing the effects of bottom friction, wind input and wave nonlinearity are also introduced into the equation. The wind input functions for wind waves and swells are separately considered by adopting Qindao Ocean University′s empirical formula for wind waves and Snyder′s observation results for swells. Thus, an extended mild-slope equation is obtained, in which the effects of refraction, diffraction, reflection, current, bottom friction, wind input and wave nonlinearity are considered comprehensively.

When settling velocity is unknown, we can identify whether sea water flowing vertically is obvious.The observed data obtained from East China Sea field measurement in 1994 have been analyzed with evaluation and calculation methods. The conclusion is that there is upwelling in whit velocity is 2.6×10 3 cm/s Station 111, but the upwelling can't reach to the sea surface. There is good coincidence between calculation result and observed data.

依据海水中悬浮物垂直通量的计算公式 ,提出了一种利用悬浮物含量、垂直通量和静水沉速估算海水垂向流速的新方法。当悬浮物静水沉速未知时 ,可用判别方法对海水是否存在显著垂向流动做基本判断。同时采用估算及判别方法对东海9404航次两连续站111和410的实测资料进行分析 ,得出了410站的海水不存在显著的上升流动 ,而111站的海水不仅存在上升流动 ,流速约为2.6×10 3cm/s ,而且在时均情况下 ,上升流不能达到表层的结果。此判断结果与以往的观测和结论以及本次观测结果相吻合。
