A new method is developed for the spectrophotometric determination of bismuth with bis-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-antipyrylcarbinol (Ⅰ) and Triton X-100. The absorption maximum of the BiI_4-(Ⅰ) purple complex is at 650 nm, whereas that of the reagent is at 590 nm, and the molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.27×10~4. Beer's law is obeyed for up to 4μg/mL of bismuth. The method has been applied to the determination of microa-mount of bismuth in pure iron and aluminium samples.

The results obtained showed that this system had great capaity, when reating the acidified glucose solution of 10-14gCOD/1, the UASB reactor can work at a high loading rate of 80 KgCOC/m~3·d with gas production of 32 m~3STP/m~3·d and soluble COD removal of 75-80% A systematic analysis and discussion was also done on the distribution of acidogcnic-phase products, the factors which influence the acidification of glucose solution and the performance of the UASB reactor.
