The effects of singularities raised above the free surface in the boundary integral methodof the ship wavernaking problem are discussed by means of a formula derived from Fourieranalysis and numerical calculation. It is considered that the proper determination of the vertical location of singularities is helpful to improving the numerical dispersion and lessening itssensitivity to the grids.
