This paper consists of four parts.In the first part,some principal concepts about fracture are eviewed.Lüders bands resultin formation of shear faults.Zigzag faults in four directions evelop dapting the X-shapedfracture framework to a global scale.According to their depth fractures an be divided intofour kinds (the lithospheric fracture,the crustal fracture,the fundamental racture and themantle fracture).Fault-blocks,which are massive terrains surrounded and ounded by fractures,can be separated into four types corresponding different fractures,The ctive ways of zigzagfractures are shear-tensile,shear-compressive,tensile,compressive and hearing.Three mainfracture systems are X-shaped,I-shaped and Y-shaped.Folds control ractures in deformationat the same stage,etc.The second part deals with rift structure.The ault-block theory thinks that rift is just afault subsidence valley dominated by fractures,and s an advanced phase of graben.The fracturesystem is a prerequisite for occurrence of rift,but ormation and evolution of rift dependmainly on development of fractures and active ways of ault-blocks.Regularly,rifts stretch inthe directions of S-N,E-W,NE and NW,forming global rift ystems.Arrangement of riftsassumes zigzag or en echelon patterns,which reflects that a egment of rift is tensile and ano-ther shearing.Aulacogen is an initial stage of rift and the irst step of transforming from con-tinental crust to oceanic one.The rifts on an uplift are ifferent from those on a depression,the latter may be compared to impactogen.The pwelling f upper mantle,decrease of crustalthickness and occurenee of taphrogenesis are finally onditioned by the zigzag fault systems.The coccurence of mineralization in rifts is discussed n part three.In axis of rift,there areV,Ti,Fe,Ni,Cu (sometimes,diamond and Cr) in basic and ltrabasic rocks;Cu,Mo,Pband Zn in neutral and basic rocks towards two sides;then,rare lements in alkalic rocks;Sn,Au and fluorite in acidic rocks and veins along the margins of rift.The mineralization in rifts which develop from shallow to deep differs from those from eepto shallow.In aulacogens there are hydrothermal copper and stratiform copper.Many xamplesillustrate that the conspicuous mineral deposits in rifts are Cu,Pb,Zn and Sn.One of hecharacters of sedim mentary profile in rifts is with binary texture.The depositional ores recoal,petroleum,gas and uranium shales in the lower part,and gypsum salt in the upper ne.The last part introduces the Panxi Rift briefly.It lies at the southern end of the big S-N ecto-nic zone of China,and belongs to a part of global longitudinal rift systems.The main ventsof its magmatic evolution can be compared with Oslo Rift.The Emeishan Basalt of Late ermianis a typical volcanic formation of rift.Intrusive rocks in this rift belong to bimodal istribution,and the tectonic background of its acidic elements links up with aphrogenesis.The ate Triassiccoal-series is a continental rift-type deposit.In addition,the Jurassic to paleocene ediments areproducts of a fault subsiding valley known as superposed basin.A narrow strip f hinned crustoccurs along Dukou-Xichang,perhaps due to rifting in Late Paleozoic to Mesozoic imes.Asimple model of two stages evolution of the rift is summed up at the end of this aper.Namely.stage Ⅰ,the rift developed from deep to shallow in Late Paleozoic;and stage Ⅱ,from shallowto eep in Late Triassic-Mesozoic.

Deposits of Cretaceous to Paleogene age in diwa structural layer of Hengyang Basin are one of the typical continental piedmont proluviallacustrine deposits. There are a lot of turbidites in these deposits, including such as curly bedding of turbidity type, curly bedding of landslide-type, graded bedding, a variety of contemporaneous breccia and turbidity malmstone showed by "grain-size parameter synthetic formula identifying the sedimentary environment", etc. An analysis of mechanism of their formation can classify them into two genesis types: one resulted from slip triggered by ancient earthquakes on the slope of delta or in growth faults; and the other from the rushing into the lake of the explosion high density flood in the nearby river. The distribution of the turbidites is similar to Bouma vertical sequence and Bouma cone plane distribution. There are evidences that these turbidites have acted for the contemporaneous concentration of some sedimentary mineral deposits of U, Cu, etc.
