The basic solution for water-deficient problem in the areas of northern China is to transfer water from south to north. The preliminary project of transferring the Hanjiang River water to north can satisfy the water needs of urban industries and daily life in the area, and of about 666,666 hactares of farmlands along the trunk-waterway of the middle course. At present time, yearly decreasing groudwater level, severe water pollution and water supply shortage become the main factors limiting the production of industry and agriculture in the water-deficient areas. This thesis gives an overall analysis on these areas geology, landform, soil texture and rock nature, on the water quality of transferred water source, and on the ecological environments and economic efficiency after water transfer. The results show that it is necessary and feasible to transfer the Hanjiang River water to the north.

Diverting water from south to north (DWSN) being planned at precent is a large project of diverting water crossing different basins in China.The Liang-Ji canal is a section of the arterial canal for conducting water in the east line of the DWSN.In order to study thewater-salt change in soil and underground water after diversion and to study the influenceof SSS in the area along the arterial canal,the soil and groundwater were surveyed and thewater-salt movement in the area along the Liang-Ji Canal was inverstigated.The key tothe success of the project lies in the variation of the agro-ecological conditions and the pos-sibility of SSS in a certain range along the transferring water line and the irrigation area tobe developed.The results of the survey and research carried out in the past few years are re-ported.The information is given on the water-salt movement in the soil observed at 140 fix-ed points in three monitering areas of the Jinxing,Jiaxing and Liangshan covering800km~2 of land,as well as 400km~2 predicted range.The fundamental regularities of regional water-salt movement in the area of the Liang-Ji Canal of the DWSN,the geochemistry of the soil salinization,the characteristics of the hydro-chemistry and theirinterrelations are described.A comprehensive evaluation and analysis are given of the influ-ence of national environmental conditions and artificial factors of the regional water-saltmovement.It may be concluded that at present apart from a certain region subject to thesoil salinization of the “one line and two lakes” areas,there are deeper buried phreaticwater,good drainage conditions,and less salt in the soil in most of the area,but it is threat-ened by the potential secondary saline and alkali.

南水北词是我国正在进行规划的一项巨大的调水工程。梁济运河是南水北调东线输水总干渠的一段。为研究输水干渠沿线地区调水后可能引起的土壤地下水水盐变化和次生盐渍化的影响,我们对梁济运河沿线及南四湖、东平湖以西地区,进行了土壤和地下水调查及水盐运动的定位观测研究。预测研究表明,调水工程的成败,关键是沿线地区一定范围和发展灌溉地区农业生态条件的变化优劣与上壤次生盐溃化的可能性。本文论述了区域水盐状况及土壤盐渍地球化学与水化学特征及其相关性,并对影响区域水盐运动的自然条件及人为因素进行了综合评价与分析。认为该区除局部地段受土壤盐渍化威胁外,大部分地区潜水埋藏较深,排水条件良好,土壤含盐量不大,但存在着潜在次生盐化和碱化的威胁。
