This paper holds that the English students listening vocabulary is smaller than his reading vocabulary and that an important reason for this is that the accumulation of listening vocabulary is much more difficult than that of reading vocabulary. To solve this problem, the author offers an effective way, i.e., passage dictation, as intensive training in English listening.

Testing is an indispensable part in college English teaching and learning. A good test helps to improve college English teaching qualities.
