On the basis of the Kuhn-Tucker condition and the second order Taylor Series expansion of functions, a new iterative experssion of structural design has been given directly. This method can be used to solve problems of structural optimization involving various constraints, and it has more generalized significance and higher precision than conventional optimality criteria methods.For the problems of displacement and stress constraints, the computational efforts of Hessian matrix associated with the iterative expression can be significantly reduced by using the Saint-Venant's principle, and the efficiency of the optimization procedures can be further improved.The results of computations have shown that the method presented in this paper is considerably satisfactory, and it is expected that this method has some good prospects in development.

The gradient side-move method has already been used to solve the optimization problem of the large scale structures with about 450 variables. The gradient side-move method has already been used to solve the optimization problem of the large scale structures with about 450 variables. If the variables of the structure are in different order of magnitude, the convergence of the optimal computation may be very slow. This paper provides a simple and effective linear transformation which can convert the original problem into a new optimization problem with variables of same order of magnitude in the design space, and hence the gradient side-move method can be effectively used to solve the problem of the optimal design of the thin-walled structures.The trial step length method is usually used to the one-dimensional search, but it requires about 6~10 times of structural re-analysis for converging to the constraint (surface). In this paper, a quadratic interpolation function is used to approach the constraint surface, and the number of structural re-analysis can be reduced so that the gradient side-move method can be more efficiently used to the structural optimal design.

梯度侧移法已经能够解决450个变量的大型结构优化问题~[4]。但是直接用于薄壁结构的优化设计时,由于设计变量具有不同的数量级,收敛极慢。本文提出一个简单而有效的线性变换,使得这类问题变成新的设计空间中设计变量有相同数量级的优化问题。从而使梯度侧移法可适用于薄壁结构的优化设计。 在进行梯移和侧移的一维搜索时,一般采用步长试探法,需要6~10次结构重分析,才能收敛到约束边界。本文用二次函数逼近各个约束边界,一维搜索次数的减少,使梯度侧移法更为实用。
