Such measures are as follows: A newly-bred and high-quality Lycium variety Ningxia No.1 is used, optimal cultivation measures are taken, a system for monitoring and predicting diseases & pests is established, and a principle of using high contents of pesticides only in spring and autumn is set up. Conclusions: The principle of "appropriate lands, improved varieties and adequate techniques in the production of lycium" must be strictly followed in order to produce a kind of Ningxia lycium with safe and stable quality, which can be used as both food and medicine.

These micro-interfacial processes are mostly driven by physio-chemical and biological changes induced by plant-soil interactions, such as root exudation of organic anions and protons. In order to safeguard the sustainable production of quality food and to maintain the environmental quality, it is essential to understand the mechanisms of these micro-interfacial processes. This paper presents a personal overview on the recent achievements in this research field with the aim of provoking further in-depth research in the near future.
