     We study the steady and transient optical properties of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT),spontaneous emission,and the photonic switching for a four-level atomic system embedded in photonic band gap(PBG) structures. The theoretical analysis shows that a special density of modes (DOM) can induce abnormal spectrum of absorption,dispersion,spontaneous emission and transient gain without inversion,and they can be controlled by an externally applied coherent light.

The mode density of dielectric microcylinder in axial direction was calculated by means of electromagnetic theory and quantum theory,and the thermal radiation spectrum was obtained. The result shows that the mode density of dielectric microcylinder is obviously different from that in free space (bulk material), i.e. in free space, the mode density is uniform in space and continuous in frequency, while in microcylinder, the mode density is nonuniform in space and discrete in frequency.

:In this paper,We get the microcylinder's local density of modes and use the result for the mathematical calculation of microcylinder's density of modes.Characters were different between the Zaxis and the Z's perpendicular axis.We can know that the microcylinder's characters are dependent of the space and orientation in the experiment of scattering、thermal spectrum、morphologydependent resonance.

本文利用微圆柱的分立电磁场模计算了有泄漏的微圆柱腔的局域膜密度。并利用所得结果对微圆柱的模密度进行了数值计算,从而说明了微圆柱轴向和横向模谱的不同。由此我们可以知道微圆柱在散射、热辐射谱、以及形貌共振等实验中都具有空间不均匀性和方向性。
