Ultrafine layered tetratitanate K_2Ti_4O_9 powders were prepared by solid-state reaction using nanometer sized TiO_2 as the reactant. Properties of H~+-exchanging and propylamine-intercalation were investigated by XRD, TEM and TG analysis and the results were compared with the larger-sized products prepared by using micrometer sized TiO_2. The technique is robust,cheap and environmentally friendly.Thus,photocrosslinking heparin multilayers appear to be a good candidate for coating medical devices of almost any kind and any shape.
