A method for modifying silica-alumina and mordenite by chemical liquid deposition of silane coupling agents, such as (CH3)2Si(OC2H5)2, CH3Si(OC2H5)3, Si(OC2H5)4, followed by calcination is presented. The modified silica-alumina and mordenite were characterized by X-ray spectrometry, infrared spectrometry and differential scanning calorimetry. Under the selected coriditions, silane coupling agents enter into the pores of silica-alumina and react with the surface OH along the interior of the channels. But the molecular size of silane coupling agents is larger than that of pores of mordenite, and thus they cannot enter into the pore of synthetic mordenite and deposit merely on the outer surface.Isomerization of m-xylene was carried out in a micro-catalytic reactor. The results show that the p-xylene selectivity of unmodified silica-alumina and mordenite is only 14.6 and 33.3% respectively, and the p-xylene selectivity of modified silica-alumina and mordenite is increased up to 34.0 and 43.7% respectively. When the. amount of modified mordenite is doubled (120mg), the mole percent of p-xylene in the mixture of three xylene isomers increases to 23.0%, which approaches the theoretical equilibrium value (24.0%)

The silicone rubber films obtained from 37 phr of B32 and 3.0-4.5phr of A5 or 37 phr of B40 and 3.5-5.0 phr of A5 exhibited fine mechanical properties. The addition of suitable amounts of hydric silicone oil could improve the strength of silicone rubber films.
