The nature of the glow discharge transforming to the arc discharge, and the source for the glow discharge in accordance with the necessity of heat treatment are discussed in this paper. Here, the authors suggest three kinds of electric circuits to be used in ion nitriding equipments. One of them is electronic switch type which has a switching rate of 10~(-5) sec. and can be used in 500A equipment.The γ'-monophased compound layer which is very wear resistant whilst exhibiting good ductility can be produced by ion nitriding process. A coherent compound layer either γ' predominated or γ' monophased can be achieved by adjusting the composition of gases and regulating the different technical parameters. Its structural characteristics as well as its mechnical behaviours, and the factors influencing the achievement of the γ'-monophased compound layer are discussed. This paper also describes the application for a low temperature ion nitriding treatment. The nitrided parts with a lower distortion, lower surface roughness and higher surface hardness can be obtained. Low temperature ion nitriding process achieved a γ'-monophased compound layer, is most suitable for heavy load machine parts, such as locomotive diesel engine crankshafts which require high wear resistance and high fatigue strength.

The gears operating at high speed and heavy load have to endure more heat and higher temperatures. Gear temperatures have an effect on the properties of lubricants, the scuffing on gear surfaces and the heat deformation of gears. Therefore, predicting the bulk temperatures in gear teeth is very important. The temperature distribution in spur gears operating in a state of thermal equilibrium can be calculated using a finite element method. With the help of proper suppositions the calculating process may be simplified....

With the help of proper suppositions the calculating process may be simplified. The bulk temperatures in gear teeth can be predicted once the heat transfer coefficients and frictional heat input are estimated. A brief introduction to the methods of estimating heat transfer coefficients and frictional heat imput are also presented. In this paper, the temperature of a pair meshing gears has been calculated as an illustration of how the bulk temperature in spur gears is predicted.

高速重载下工作的齿轮,一般都承受较高的热负荷,故温度较高。而齿轮的温度决定着它是否会发生胶合损坏,决定着润滑剂的特性,同时也决定着齿轮的热变形,故齿轮的温度估算显得十分重要。对于在稳定负荷下运转并处于热平衡状态的直齿轮,可利用有限元法求解其体积温度,并可通过一些适当的假设使问题得到简化,在估算出齿轮的放热系数和输入摩擦热后,便可进行计算。文中还对放热系数和输入摩擦热的理论计算作了一些介绍,并通过对一典型齿轮传动的温度计算,初步探讨了求解直齿轮体积温度的若干问题。
