The volatile oil was extracted from fresh mulberry leaves by water, and the content was nearly 0. 1% (db,w/w). There were 85 chemical components in the volatile oil analyzed with GC/MS. Most of them are unsaturation alcohols, fatty acids, paraffinic hydrocarbons, aromatic series, sterols, diterpene olefins and heterocycle compounds. The structures of 47 chemical components in volatile oil were determined. The highest content was 3,7,11,15 - tetramethyl - 2 - hexadecen - 1 - ol ( MW 296) , and the next ones were 3 - heptene( MW204) and trimethyl - cyclohexen - 1 - ol( MW192) .
