Learning environment is the theme when people make a study of on-line learning. This article includes 5 parts. The first part introduced the general viewpoint of advantages and disadvantages for on-line learning in comparison with traditional face-to-face instruction. The second part described the controversy of the two fractions for media function based on technology. Though it is important to select and combine the media, media do not create the most important impact on learning achievements. The third part analyzed different point of views in regards to components of on-line learning environment offered by some scholars from USA, mainland and Taiwan of China, which indicate that on-line learning is a multiple-dimension learning environment and technology is only one part of the many dimensions. The fourth part analyzed the current status for research on on-line learning environment and the relative findings. The fifth part is critical consideration and discussion. The authors take the view that it is very complicated for on-line learning assessment. Though it is important for the multi-dimension assessment of on-line learning, the cost efficiency is a more important index. To set up on-line learning environment, full consideration should be given to the economic circumstances of the locality, the factors of technology application, and students' features, etc.

学习环境是研究网上学习最重要的主题。本文包括五个部分:第一部分介绍与传统的面授教学比较,网上学习的优势及不足的综合观点;第二部分描述基于技术的媒体作用的两大派别之争,媒体的选择和组合是重要的,但媒体并不是影响学习成效的最主要因素;第三部分分析了国内外学者提出的关于网上学习环境组成部分的不同观点,说明网上学习是一个多维度的学习环境,技术只是许多维度中的一个部分;第四部分分析了网上学习环境测评的研究现状及成果;第五部分是评论性思考及讨论。作者认为,网上学习的测评是复杂的,尽管网上学习的多种维度评价是重要的,然而,成本效益是更重要的指标,建立网上学习的环境应该充分考虑到本地的经济情况、技术使用以及学生特征等因素。
