As the characteristics of strong seismicities from 1880-- 1993 in Xinjiang and its surrounding regions have been studied, it is considered the seismicities of Ms≥7. 0 have obvious active and quiet periods alternately. Strong seismic activities in the research intervals have undergone five circulations,each circulation includes two episodes,one is quiet and the other is active. Each active episode has relative main active areas. Those main active areas and individual earthquakes with Ms≥7. 0 are characterized by to--and--fro migrations along West Kunlun--South Tianshan--North Tianshan and Altay seismic zones. Seismicities with Ms≥6. 0 on each seismic zone are of obvious bulk migrations from southwest to northeast,with somewhat a stability on dynamic migratory process of time,space and intensity. This regular distribution and migration might be the results of dynamic force from the boundary of indianOcean Plate,and be the results of the correlation with inhomogeneous distribution of time,space and intensity in regional modern tectonic stress field. Finally, trend prediction on the risk of the coming earthquakes is discussed also.

对1880~1993年新疆及邻区7级以上强震活动特征进行了分析讨论,认为研究时段内7级以上强震活动有明显的活跃与平静交替现象。研究时段内的强震活动经历了5个轮回,每个轮回包括一个平静幕和一个活动幕,每个活动幕都有相对的主体活动区,主体活动区和7级以上单个强震都具有沿西昆仑—南天山—北天山—阿尔泰地震带往返迁移的特征。各地震带6级以上地震活动也具有明显的由西南向北东整体迁移的特征,并且这种时、空、强三方面的动态发展迁移过程具有一定的稳定性。这种有规律的分布和迁移可能是由于印度洋板块的边界动力作用造成的,同时与区域现代构造应力场时、空、强分布的不均匀性也有关。据此,对近期强震的危险性做了趋势预测。
