By summarizing researches of other editors and the author's own experience in this field, this paper probes into main approaches concerning how to train and improve science editors' manuscript-review ability. They are: mastering basic scientific knowledge widely and firmly so as to lay a sound foundation of manuscript-review ability, learning special knowledge to possess the speciality in some areas, doing scientific research often in order to improve the ability in all aspects, learning the review methodology...

By summarizing researches of other editors and the author's own experience in this field, this paper probes into main approaches concerning how to train and improve science editors' manuscript-review ability. They are: mastering basic scientific knowledge widely and firmly so as to lay a sound foundation of manuscript-review ability, learning special knowledge to possess the speciality in some areas, doing scientific research often in order to improve the ability in all aspects, learning the review methodology so as to grasp its skills, and finally practicing frequently to perfect this art.
