The next thirty years is th e peri od of making the past serve the present and one of successes and failures. Succe sses are embodied in some authentic proofs obtained. The literature research of the Ming dynasty in the 20th century can be probably divided into four stages. The first stage from 1900-1917; the second from 1917-1949; the third from 1949-1976; the fourth from 1976 until the end of the century, which is a gradual modern evelving process. It has been ripe from its point of view to the in ethodology. The out standing a chievements of the literature in the Ming dynasty lies in the novels as well its main pait of the research. The literature research of the Ming dynasty in the 20th century shows the trend as folloas the transfer from the troditional research at the beginning of the century to the modern research, and the solid foundation was laid for the research modernization in the 1920s and 1930s. Ard it was stagrant because of the wsr in the following deeade. In 1950s and 1960s it was developed with wps and downs. During the 10 years of the unteady period there had been 10 years of the unsteady period there had been no academic research at all. However, since the end of 1910s there has been a fantastic spurt in the literuture research of the Ming dynasty.
