本文从社会语言学角度调查了我国小学英语教材中的语言性别歧视现象。本文首先综述语言性别歧视理论和国内外的相关研究。然后调查三套小学英语教材,从男女角色比例、男女的职业角色、男女在家庭中的角色和描述男女的形容词四方面进行定量统计和分析。得出如下结论:我国小学英语教材仍存在语言性别歧视现象,男女在家庭和职业角色方面还存在较严重的失衡。本文可望对我国新世纪小学英语教材的引进和编写提供借鉴。

This paper first summarizes the qualitative and quantitative investigations made on the English course books used in six primary schools in Yangzhou and Taizhou areas. The results of the investigations indicate that there are distinct differences between such books in terms of the choice of content, the correctness and appropriateness of language, the design of exercises, the availability of teachers book and the quality of printing and binding. This present paper, then, through inference, intends to find out the relevant problems existing nationwide, discuss the possible measures to be taken to solve such problems, and, at the same time, analyze the characteristics such course books for young learners should possess.

本文首先概述了对扬州和泰州地区六所小学英语教材使用情况进行的定性和定量调查。调查结果显示,这些教材在内容安排、语言表达、习题设计、教师用书的配备和装订印刷质量等方面均有明显差异。本文旨在根据上述调查,有点及面,分析我国少儿英语教材目前所存在的问题,探讨其应具有的特色和我们可能采取的措施。
