A high quality light magnesium oxide can be produced from the Mg-containing solution, after which being further purified by using mixed magnesium precipitant.
Investigation based on different kinds of amphoteric oxides such as activated alumina, molecular sieve of 4A type, activated silica, light magnesium oxide and activated zinc oxide was carried out.
Under the optimal technological parameters, the results achieve yield of Mg~(2+)about 82% and the consumption of NH_4HCO_3 for each ton light magnesium oxide reduces to 1.76 t in the process and the product has met the superfine-class standard of HG1-324-77. This process may be one of the effective routes to exploit the resources of saline bischofite.
Laboratory deamonification of coking plant waste water with light magnesia reveals:in a two-staged deamonification process,the ratio of weight of bottoms:weight of light magnesia consumed is 1∶5.5—6.5(stirring for 2 hours,%NH_3 removed 99,%MgO utilized 85%).
