Main results of laboratory experiments are given in the article, including pro- perties and formulation of slag lignin, factors affecting setting time and strength of congelation, the permeability and viscosity as well as toxicity of slag lignin. Practical examples of waterproof sealing of inclined shaft stations, signal cham- bers and power substation chambers are described in the last part of the article. 95% waterproof efficiency is achieved and in some cases of exploration drilling even 100% sealing is attained. In conclusion, the author highlights the advantages and prospects of the use of slag lignin in the field of waterproof sealing. The author also points out the direc- tion for further research on slag lignin.

The layering development and distribution of karst caves exposed on the surface have generally been accepted. However, similar characteristics of deep karst below the present drainage datum plane are less studied up to now. This paper deals with the phenomenon of layering in the distribution of deep karsts according to the information from the prospecting boreholes and mining excavation in karst areas. It is pointed out that the developing degree of karst and the elevation difference of karst layering in the vertical section often vary rhythmically as a result of rhythm of the recent earth crust's uplift and subsidence and equidistance in the distribution of geological structure planes. The layering distribution of the deep karst is approximately corresponding to that of the surface karst caves in river valleys.

地表溶洞发育分布的成层性基本上已得到公认。现代排泄基准面以下深岩溶的类似特征则至今研究尚少。本文根据岩溶区勘探钻孔和矿山巷道资料说明河谷深部溶洞分布的成层性。文中指出由于近代地壳升降运动的韵律性和地质结构面分布的等距性,岩溶发育程度和溶洞层高差在垂直方向也经常表现出韵律性变化,河谷深部溶洞成层分布且大致和地表溶洞层相对应。
