The purification function of natural minerals for reducing pollutants is reflected mainly in thebasic properties of environmental mineral materials. A series of case studies related to the natural self-purification, which were mostly completed by our group, are discussed in the paper. They are embodied bysome natural minerals of pyrite, pyrrhotite, magnetite, goethite, cryptomelane, rutile, vermiculite, montmo-rillonite and jarosite and so on to disposal contaminants of heavy metals of Cr, Hg, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn,...

The purification function of natural minerals for reducing pollutants is reflected mainly in thebasic properties of environmental mineral materials. A series of case studies related to the natural self-purification, which were mostly completed by our group, are discussed in the paper. They are embodied bysome natural minerals of pyrite, pyrrhotite, magnetite, goethite, cryptomelane, rutile, vermiculite, montmo-rillonite and jarosite and so on to disposal contaminants of heavy metals of Cr, Hg, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Coand Ni etc, or to degrade volatile organic compounds in water, air and soil. Further research should be toreveal the subtle process of interaction on the interface of contaminants and minerals on the atomic level, tomake the law that the defects of crystal structure dominating the surface adsorption of contaminants, todiscuss the microporous effect of the crystals connected with filtrating contaminants and to establish themechanism that the effect of mineral chemical activity can purify contaminants as well as to bring forwardthe theory to disposal heavy metal ions by the interaction between minerals and bacteria.

天然矿物对污染物的净化功能主要体现在环境矿物材料基本性能方面。天然铁的硫化物、天然铁的氧化物、天然锰的氧化物、天然钛的氧化物、天然蛭石、有机蒙脱石和含高价阳离子蒙脱石以及黄钾铁矾等均在处理无机与有机污染物方面展现出良好效果。矿物与其环境界面原子尺度相互作用过程研究、矿物内部结构缺陷影响矿物表面活性规律研究、矿物晶体结构中不同维次连通性孔道效应研究、矿物化学活性作用净化污染物方法研究以及矿物晶芽与生物细胞层次上交互作用净化污染物机理研究等,将是近期着力开发无机界矿物天然自净化功能的重点研究内容。

采用在人工配置含氨氮的污水中投加蛭石的方法,系统研究了天然蛭石吸附污水中氨氮的饱和吸附容量以及蛭石吸附氨氮的等温吸附曲线,探讨了污水的pH值、温度、浓度对氨氮去除率的影响及各影响因子的大小,结果表明,蛭石的饱和吸附量为20 8mg/g;蛭石吸附量在pH2 0~6 0范围内随着pH的增大而增大,最佳pH为4 0~6 0;温度在15~35℃范围内,吸附量随温度的升高减小,氨氮的去除率随着蛭石用量的增加而增加,影响因素的大小顺序为:pH>蛭石的用量>吸附时间>温度。这为蛭石作为一种新型氨氮吸附材料提供了基础参数。
