When the UASB reactors were operated under soured condition, the characteristics of granular sludge became bad, and however ECP increased to reach approximately 70 mg/gVSS. These phenomena of ECP measurements indicates that ECP maybe play a less role in granulation process of sludge for UASB reactor. The effect and mechanism of ECP in bacterial adhesive reaction and granulation were discussed.
