Our country is facing the historical task of building up a learning\|oriented society, whose premise is democratization of education. However, the proceeding of democratization is strictly restricted by the factors that higher education must submit to the actual mission of social economic construction, the value tropism of elitism, the logic of technicality, the present ranking system and so on. Thus, democratization of higher education could only develop tortuously by compromising with the above factors.

我国正面临着建设学习型社会的历史任务,而教育民主化是形成学习型社会的前提条件。高等教育民主化进程,受到高等教育服从于社会经济建设需要的现实使命、英才主义价值取向,高等教育的学术性逻辑和既有等级秩序等因素的严重制约,高等教育的民主化只能在各种矛盾的相互妥协中曲折地向前发展。
