The author analyzes at 3 levels Liang Qichao′s rational spiri t and aca demic approach which are interlinked with Western Enlightenment thought, thus fu rther expounds Liang′s " variety " in his life from the angle of rational spi ri t. Actually, Liang Qichao and Wang Guowei are the same with "independent spiri t and free idea ", yet with different ways of expression.
