The chemical stress cracking of PET fiber-methylamine system is considered to be a fracture phenomenon of polymers. The PET fibers with different heating and mechanical history were treated with 30% aqueous methylamine under the conditions of relaxation and extension respectively and then observed by SEM. The GPC curves of some samples shows the molecular weight distribution of the samples. Authors inter-prete all experimental results of the work with the molecular mechanism of fracture behaviour of polymers...
