The finite element method(FEM)was applied to calculate the potential distribution of a cathodically protected offshore platform,especially for a platform with nodes complex node in this paper.

The article analysed the building of the whole platform and the principles and came true the real-time simulation with a background of vehicles travelling status from simple nodes system to complex nodes system.

In this algorithm the topological network structure is described by the admittance matrix of nodes. Different from the forward- and backward-substitution method widely used in load flow calculations of distribution networks, in this algorithm the complicated numbering of nodes is not necessary and the presented algorithm is applicable to the load flow calculation for the distribution networks operated in weak mesh network. This algorithm is simple and direct and possesses good convergence. The results of calculation examples show that this method is effective.
