Eu 3+ doped SiO 2 aerogel film were prepared by sol gel process. The surface structure was observed by AFM. Excitation,emission and time resolved spectra were measured. The time resolved spectra show that the emission from 5D 1 was decay, while the ones from 5D 0 show a increasing process in decay process. M SiO 2 aerogels catalysts(M = Cu or Co) are prepared by sol-gel process and supercritical drying. The resulting aerogels are characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), XRD and nitrogen adsorption analysis. Their catalytic behavior for CO oxidation has been studied. The results indicate that Cu SiO 2 or Co SiO 2 catalysts have high catalytic activity at 100-400°C.

The bulk crack-free RF aerogels was obtai ned through the following solvent exchange and supercritical drying of RF aquagels. The resulting aerogels are transparent and dark red in color with the density as low as 0.032g·cm-3. The main factors that affect the properties of aerogels such as the molar ratio of re sorcinol to formaldehyde R/C and total solid content S(wt/v%) w as investigated. The nanometer-networks of RF aerogels were characteriz ed by TEM. The solid phase in the network composes of particles with diameter about 10nm. The pore size is smaller than 100nm.
