本文首先分析科学模型的隐喻性结构,从而引出隐喻词项的指称问题。接着以博义德对理论构成隐喻的指称功能的探讨为主线,分析出隐喻或模型要能隐喻地表达思想所预设的条件是:隐喻词项的隐喻性指称就是第一主概念表达式的所指,指称的固定则是靠第二主概念和第一主概念表达式涵义之间的类比进行的。最后表明理论构成隐喻作为一种以语言适应实在的策略,它的指称功能就在于为科学探究和理论构建提供认识论进路。

C.S.Peirce reflected much upon the logic of science,which can be regarded as the foundation of his entire philosophy.According to him,the genuine science is not systematization of knowledge,but a mode of life.And the scientific method is the only method of inquiry that can finally reach the truth of nature.Importantly,as a scientific man,one should be sincere and earnest to his scientific inquiry.

Dewey claims that the empirical method is the only method to solve the problem of traditional philosophical dualism.This method is used to study not only natural sciences but also humanities.He analyzes how the empirical method is employed in art and morality,and shows us three ways to studying morality through empirical method.And so,natural sciences and humanities constitute a unified cultural system.Dewey's concept of experience is different from that of both Kant and positivism.

杜威认为经验方法是克服传统哲学二元论的惟一方法。这种方法不仅对自然科学的探究是适用的,而且对人文科学也同样具有指导意义。他以艺术和道德领域为例来分析经验方法在人文领域中的具体运用,给出了对道德领域进行经验探究的三条途径。正是在这一意义上,科学与人文价值构成了一个系统的文化结构。另外,杜威的经验概念不仅与康德意义上的经验概念不同,与实证主义的经验概念也存在根本的区别。
