In this paper,the buckling mode including axial c oordinate x and circumferential coordinate θ is used to a nalyze dynamic plastic buckling of isotropic linear hardening cylindrical shells under axial impact.By using the analysis of amplification functions method the critical velocities can be obtained directly when shells appear axisymmetric or multi-unaxisymmetric buckling modes.The relations between critical velocities a nd radius-to-thickness ratios are discussed.
