Natural circulation flow excursion has been observed on the test loop HRTL-5 under low steam quality conditions,which simulates the geometry and system design of the 5MW full power natural circulation Nuclear Heating Reactor.

The results show that it is an effective pretreatment process with obvious decolourising performance. Under the condition of micro-aeration, the average removal efficiencies of color> COD> PO43--P and TP are 41.3%, 54.5%, 87.5% and 79.4%, respectively. Furthermore, the process could adjust the influent quality and alleviate the shock loading.

Thr strength of high pressure sealing gland is of practical significance in engineering, The stress analysis of gland can be made by applying three-dimentional photoelastieity in which a full-simulated test on local construction by applying static pressure was carried owt. The strtss distribution and the maximum stress were determined. Then the strengfh of glands were examined. The method applied is also suitable for model test of other types of assembly especially for the freezing test in photoelasticity.

In this paper, calculated and experimental results have been compared and parameters for the two-phase drift-flow model have beendetermined, which can be used in the simulation of the flow characteristics in the natural circulation system at low pressure and low dryness fraction. Calculated result shows that: ①for a nuclear heat reactor, if thevoid distribution parameter C0 equals 1.1 and uvj equals 0.48, calculated results are very closed to theexperimental results; ②C0 and uvj have rather complicated effects on the calculated results, which is not the simple accumulation as a parameter varies, but there is the effect of coupling or enhancement in the model; ③as for the calculation of natural circulation flow characteristics for HRTL-5, there are great differencebetween the uniform flow model and drift-flow model.
