Based on the measurements of grassland productivity, and changes of precipitation and temperature during the past 30 years, this paper analyzes the effects of climatic changes on grassland degradation in Inner Mongolia region. Additionally, the effects of material inflow and outflow, animal husbandry practices, crop production and other human activities on the grassland ecosystem are also analyzed. The results show that natural grazing is the major land use form and domestic animals are the main controling factors on the vegetation in grassland region. Imbalanced material flow (nitrogen as an example) and seasonal shortage of feed supply for animals are the two main reasinry causing the deterioration of the grassland ecosystem. Other factors, such as climate changes, land reclamation and digging herbs, may accelerate the degradation process of grassland. Furthermore, the paper points out that such measures as increasing material input, changing the yearround grazing manner and increasing feed supply from cropping, are effective ways for maintaining and protecting the ecoenvironment in this region. 

根据草地生产力变化的趋势,描述了内蒙古草原退化的现状。以降水量和气温两个主要气象因子为主,分析了内蒙古草原区1970~1999年30a来的气候变化特征,探讨了气候因子对草地退化的影响。同时,从草地生态系统的物流平衡及人类活动对草地生态系统的影响等方面探讨了草地生态环境劣变的原因。分析表明:仅就目前的气象和草地监测资料,尚难以作出草地气候趋于干旱,进而引起草地生态系统劣变的结论;放牧畜牧业是该地区的主要土地利用形式,家畜是生态系统中植被的主要控制者,系统内物流(以N为例)的出入失调和季节性的草—畜供求失衡是引起草地生态系统迅速退化的主要因素;而气候变化对系统的劣变仅起了推波助澜的作用。认为增加向系统内的物质投入,调整四季放牧的自然畜牧业生产方式,积极引种入牧,缓解草地春季敏感期放牧压力等,是治理和维护该地区草地生态系统健康的有效措施。

为探讨沙质草地退化的原因,以便为植被恢复与重建奠定科学基础,在调查对比20世纪80年代初期与21世纪初期,科尔沁地区奈曼旗沙质草地生产力和植被特征等方面变化的基础上,通过对奈曼旗1963-2002年40年来气候变化特征以及1947-2002年56年来畜牧业发展状况的研究,综合剖析了导致该地区沙质草地退化的根本原因。结果表明:该地区沙质草地的迅速退化,是气候变化和人类活动共同胁迫的结果;人类活动,特别是不合理的畜牧业生产方式,是导致该地区沙质草地生态系统劣变的主要因素,气候变化加剧了系统劣变的程度。

This paper discusses the climate changes of Naiman county, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in the past forty years(1964-2003), and the increase of animals raised in the last 56 years(1947-2002), in addition to the basic reasons that cause the grassland degradation in the area. Climate changes and human activities, more particularly, the irrational animal industry production system, lead to the excessive degradation of the grassland ecosystem. The paper also presents effective measures to restore the regressive grassland, such as controlling the growth of population, promoting the practice of rest-rotation grazing, and raising animals in the stockyard. Moreover, enlightening farmers and herds people with advanced farming and stock-raising technologies is also important in promoting the comprehensive social and economic development of the area.
