The design thought and method, the main function and characteristics of Medical Waste Management Information System (MWMIS) in Tianjin were described in details as four aspects: demand analysis of users, design of database structure, design of system function and design of operation interface.
[Results]There were 15 hospitals over county level,with 7 851 beds in them,and 42 professional persons for infection control,about one to 186.9 beds,among which 61.90% were nursing staff. Medical garbage was disposed centralizedly only in 6 hospital.
The recovery rate of medical wastes mainly including glass and plastic was 49.32%. The disposal rate of medical wastes only was 1.34%. The rest of medical wastes of 49.34% were mixed into domestic wastes or landfilled.
In order to evaluate the environmental hazards of hospital waste incinerator ash and slag and probe safety and effective way of processing, the characteristics such as the chemical composition, mineralogy, morphology, metal contents and leaching behavior of heavy metal etc have been respectively analyzed on the bag fly ash and bottom slag in gyration kiln and fixed bed by using XRF, XRD,SEM and AAS.
Characteristics of the medical waste generated at the Jordanian hospitals
Recently, Jordan has witnessed increased amounts of medical waste generated at different healthcare facilities.
This has resulted in issuance of Medical Waste Regulation that aimed at regulating the management processes of such hazardous waste.
To provide information on medical waste generation rates, composition and statistical characteristics, a comprehensive sampling survey was initiated after a regulatory definition of the medical waste was established.
The total daily amount of medical waste generated at the Jordanian hospitals was estimated to be 6?tones/day.
The applicability of the method was proven by chemical analysis of real hospital waste water samples.
In a second step of the study the method was successfully evaluated for monitoring cancerostatic platinum compounds in hospital waste water.
It is an economical source as it is easily available as a hospital waste.
Stabilization and utilization of hospital waste as road and asphalt aggregate
