Neural-Network Response Surfaces (NNRS) is applied to replace the actual expensive finite element analysis during the composite structural optimization process. The Orthotropic Experiment Method (OEM) is used to select the most appropriate design samples for network training.
This article according to the characteristic of composite material structure design, it choose a Genetic Algorithm to as corresponding optimized searching calculation, and then a method to optimize the design of composite material structure will be obtained, which will not depend on gradient information and the initial conditions.
Finally, the main existing problems and the future research in composite optimization designs are analyzed. It is pointed out that: (1) the optimum design of multilevel and multiobjective as well as multidis′ciplinary problems not only deals with the basic theory,modelling and optimum methods, but also emphasizes on solving engineering problems;
