A theoretical model has been established based on the solution of the rate equations for the erbium-doped fiber ring laser(EDFL). Analytic solutions for the threshold pump power, the output power, the slope efficiency and optimum erbium-doped fiber length of EDFL are obtained. The physical explanations have been given for the results.

通过求解速率方程,建立了环形掺铒光纤激光器的理论模型.获得了激光器的阈值泵浦功率、输出功率.斜率效率以及最佳掺铒光纤长度的解析解.对结果给予了清晰的物理解释

Abstract This paper presents a theoretical model for erbium doped fiber lasers, which are passively mode locked by a semiconductor saturable waveguide acting as a slow saturable absorber and a nonlinear fast saturable absorber. The influences of semiconductor saturable waveguide, fiber self phase modulation and self amplitude modulation on mode locking pulse width and chirp have been analyzed.

利用半导体饱和吸收波导作为慢速饱和吸收体与非线性快速饱和吸收体相结合,建立了共同被动锁模掺铒光纤激光器的理论模型.分析了半导体饱和吸收波导、光纤自相位调制和自振幅调制对锁模脉冲宽度和脉冲啁啾的影响.

A theoretical model of one point side-pumped Yb~3+ doped double clad fiber laser was built up. By numerical analysis, the distribution of pump power and laser power along the fiber, and the relation between pump position and output power were obtained for forward pump, backward pump and bidirectional pump. The results show that pump position has little effects on laser power distribution and output power for bidirectional pump. This method can become a good choice for side-pumped double clad fiber laser.

从速率方程出发,建立了单点侧向泵浦掺Yb3+双包层光纤激光器的理论模型并进行了数值分析,得到了泵浦光方向分别为正向、反向、双向时,光纤内泵浦光和激光功率的分布特性及输出功率与泵浦点位置的变化关系。结果表明,相对于泵浦光正向或反向传输,当泵浦光双向传输时,光纤中的激光功率分布和输出激光功率受泵浦点的位置影响较小,对于侧向泵浦的双包层光纤激光器是较好的选择。
