The phosphorus modified γ Al 2O 3(P/γ Al 2O 3) was prepared by a reaction of an aqueous(NH 4)H 2PO 4 solution with powder γ Al 2O 3.The acidity of P/γ Al 2O 3 was examined by TG TPD technique.The Coking behaviour of P/γ Al 2O 3 during the cracking of n heptane was investigated by TG.It has been found that modifying the γ Al 2O 3 with phosphorus is effective for adjusting of surface acidity and acid strength distribution.The coking rate during cracking reaction is at the lowest when P content in γ Al 2O 3 is about 0 75%.The addition of P/γ Al 2O 3 to the USY zeolite catalysts,the linear correlation equation of specific coke to Lewis/Brnsted acid ratio was achieved.The proper amount of P in catalysts reduces the Lewis/Brnsted acid ratio,suppresses the coking of the catalysts and inhibites the catalyst deactivation caused by coking during cracking process.
