In the experiment a signal generator is used to synchronize the power supplies of oscillator and amplifier so that the output beam of the LD pumped oscillator has been amplified through the amplifier composed by two Xe lamp pumped Nd:YAG. Self-Q-switched laser pulses with repetition rate of 1Hz, and output energy of 1.8mJ and pulse duration of 8ns were obtained. When this laser beam was coupled into a multi-mode quartz fiber with diameter of 100μm, a phase conjugated beam caused by backwards Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) could be observed.
