Metadata plays an important role in building the Information System and is an emphasis in relative researches. By organizing the Business Metadata and Technical Metadata, We constructed the Ecology and Environment Information System of Three Gorges, in which the data covers almost all aspects of environment and ecology, such as pollution, water environment, terraneous ecology, aquatic ecology, etc. Based on the construction of Information System mentioned above, this paper introduces the concept of Business Metadata and Technical Metadata and illuminates the method and process of extracting these metadata as well as how to build the Business Model and Data Model with Business Metadata and Technical Metadata. The usage of Business Model and Data Model, along with the method of integrating them effectively, is also stated. Finally, the Business Metadata's effects and shortages are discussed, analyzed and evaluated.

元数据在信息系统的建设中占有重要地位,也是目前的研究重点。三峡工程生态与环境信息系统的数据源涵盖了几乎生态与环境的所有方面,如污染、水环境、陆生生态、水生生态等。基本对业务元数据和技术元数据的合理组织,我们成功地构建了该信息系统。本文首先介绍了业务性元数据和技术性元数据的概念并解释了抽取这些元数据的过程和方法,同时说明了如何来创建业务模型和数据模型,以及如何有效地将上述模型集成起来。最后,对业务性元数据的使用效果和不足之处作了讨论和评价。
