Some major foundation problems of a 177 m high gravity-arch dam under construction are discribed in this paper. Attention should be made when a high gravity-arch dam under such a geologic condition and some other unfavorable topographic features is to be built.Two problems the stabilities of arch dam abutments and the special treatments of the faults above mentioned including in our design process are discussed briefly and preliminarily in this paper.Though the geologic condition is complicated, yet after various calculations, experimental studies and analyses, it is reliable that both the stabilities and deformations of both abutments will meet the requirements of smooth functioning of the dam in the future, provided that careful treatments and investigations are to be carried out continuously in days to come.

Furthermore, it has been evidenced by practical examples that the method will induce error seriously. Hence, the authors suggest to consider both the factors simultaneously, thus giving an equation expressed as K = KpKt.A "surplus resistance coefficient" Kr and its equation expressing the degree of safety for structure in consideration are also proposed. The coefficient Kr can be obtained by much more simplified computation. Finally, the tensile stress relaxation of rock and the accuracy of computation are also mentioned.

本文探讨了对重力坝深层抗滑稳定安全的表示方法,认为目前常用的、由仅仅加大荷载或仅仅降低摩擦系数来求安全系数的做法是不符合实际情况的,并用实例说明由此而引起的误差很大。作者建议同时考虑此二者,并提出了具体的表达式,即K=K_p·K_f。 文中还提出了一个用来表示结构安全程度的富裕系数K_r及其表达式,它可以借较少的计算就清楚地反映出结构物的安全程度。 对岩石拉应力松弛及计算精度的控制等问题,文中也提出了看法。
