The developments and demands of vacuum circuit breaker in recent years in China are sur-veied. The some basic researches on vacuum circuit breaker are presented: the physical limits of high current interruption, the effect of contact composition on stability of low current arcs, and arc instability, arc reignition, current chopping and over-voltage occured near current zero. The test methods and apparatus for contact materials are described. Finally, the performance requirements of contact material, the types of conventional contact materials and the technical performance are presented.

本文首先回顾了国外真空开关的发展、低压真空开关的新动向以及我国真空开关近年来的发展情况.介绍了真空开关的某些基础研究,如大电流分断的物理极限;触头组成对小电流电弧稳定性的影响;电流过零时的不稳定、电弧重燃、截流和过电压等研究.触头电性能和气体释放的测试方法.最后讨论真空开关触头的性能要求,常用触头品种和电性能.
