The hollow lens duct is introduced for the application in the coupling of pump radiation from extended two dimensional semiconductor laser diode arrays into solid state laser gain media. With the help of numerical analysis of three dimension ray tracing, a computer simulation program for longitudinal pump laser diode (LD) coupling system was developed. Based on the result of simulation, a coupling system for large aperture high power LD arrays using hollow lens duct was build. Coupling efficiency beyond 90% was reached with perfect pumping uniformity on the surface of gain material. An experience formula for hollow lens duct design was deduced at the same time, it would be very helpful in designing coupling system of large scale diode pumped solid state lasers (DPSSLs).

采用大口径、高功率激光二极管 (LD)阵列的大型全固化二极管抽运激光系统 (DPSSLs)能够产生高功率、大能量、高重复频率的优良激光。为了实现对介质的高效抽运 ,将空心透镜导管应用于大口径高功率激光二极管阵列耦合系统。基于三维光线追迹的数值计算方法 ,编制了LD纵向抽运耦合系统模拟软件 ,对空心透镜导管进行模拟与设计 ,使系统耦合效率超过 90 %的同时 ,增益介质表面抽运场具有良好的均匀性 ,实现了对介质的高效均匀抽运 ;同时通过改变空心透镜导管的参数进行模拟比较 ,得出了空心透镜导管设计的经验公式 ,为大型DPSSLs耦合系统的设计提供了有益的参考

The Nd 3+ ion doped in Nd∶YVO 4 crystal has a weak laser transition at 1.342 μm in addition to 1.064 μm stimulated transition. The laser at 1.342 μm can be frequency-doubled to obtain red light at 671 nm. In this paper, the analysis and the experiment of a Nd∶YVO 4 crystal pumped by 400-μm fiber-coupled diode array, type-Ⅰ critical phase matching and intra-cavity frequency-doubled LBO (LiB 3O 5) crystal, and red laser at output wavelength of 671 nm were performed. By using a short folded-cavity resonator, the thermal focal length of Nd∶YVO 4 crystal was calculated, and the parameters of laser cavity were selected by computer optimum design. At last, with incident pump power of 8 W, TEM 00 mode (transverse electromagnetic mode) red laser at 671 nm of 1.8W was obtained, with the optical conversion efficiency up to 22.5%.

Phase locking of a laser diode(LD) array in an external cavity based on Talbot cavity was studied theoretically and experimentally.On the foundation of near field distributions of supermodes,far field distributions of in-phase mode and out-of-phase mode were obtained in the focal plane by using diffraction lens outside of the cavity.According to the distributions of the in-phase mode and the out-of-phase mode in the Talbot cavity,it can be seen that Z_T/2 cavity(the round trip) is preferable for phase locking of LD arrays.But Z_T/2 cavity only allows out-of-phase mode oscillating,and the far field distribution is double lobes,which is not suitable in most cases.If the external mirror is tilted by an angle of α,the diffraction images of in-phase mode exactly coincide with the apertures,while out-of-phase mode is imaged exactly in between the apertures,resulting in high loss.Distributions of in-phase mode and out-of-phase mode are obtained in the experiment for both cases,and the divergence angle of far field single lobe is 1.96 mrad.

对基于Talbot效应的激光二极管(LD)阵列外腔锁相进行了理论和实验研究。在腔内各阶超模近场分布的基础上,在腔外加会聚透镜,在其焦平面上得到了同相模和异相模的远场分布。根据同相模和异相模在Talbot腔中的分布特性,提出ZT/2腔(指腔长的往返长度)进行外腔锁相时的理想腔长。由于ZT/2腔内是异相模振荡,远场图像为双瓣模,这时如果让外腔镜在慢轴方向倾斜角度α,让反馈回阵列的同相模和异相模成像位置各发生d/2的偏移,恰好可以选择同相模而抑制异相模。最后采用ZT/2腔对LD阵列的外腔锁相进行了实验研究,并在外腔镜不偏转和偏转角度α时分别观察到同相模和异相模的锁相现象。经过分析计算,同相模锁相时,其远场单瓣模的发散角约为1.96 mrad。
